InVivo Labs Vietnam gears up for growing feed-testing needs in Asia

France-based InVivo Labs, which provides testing services to the feed industry, is making new investments in its Vietnam laboratory in order to double its activities within two years, in a bid to expand its market reach in Asia.
InVivo Labs Vietnam, which operates 100,000 analyses/year currently, has recently invested in additional cutting-edge analytical technologies including High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). It is also building an extension of 300m2 at its facilities, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2013. In addition, the company has recruited a specialist chemist from Europe to develop new methods of analysis.
Commercial manager of InVivo Labs Vietnam, Gaetan Morizur, says that the Asian market is very promising, "Feed companies of the region are progressing towards more advanced formulation systems, and when doing so, they need to send samples to external laboratories for parameters that are difficult to analyse on their own, such as amino acids, minerals, vitamins… It is an opportunity for us as we can test over 200 different parameters and are able to receive samples from other Asian countries in just a few days."
Morizur also says that the company expects business in the region to grow by 20% - 30% by the end of 2013, and double within 1.5 years - 2 years.
According to the data from Vietnam''s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam''s animal feed output rose from 10.6 million tonnes in 2010 to more than 11.5 million tonnes in 2011, and to over 12.7 million tonnes in 2012. The projected figure for this year is 13.5 million tonnes.
InVivo Labs Vietnam serves customers in the region including Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Philippines and Thailand. Besides Asia, the company also has customers from Mauritius, New Caledonia and Madagascar.
InVivo Labs is the laboratory division of the French group Invivo NSA. Outside of Asia, InVivo Labs launched a new laboratory dedicated to analytical activity in the west of France in the beginning of 2013. Spanning 0.26 hectares, it is believed to be the largest laboratory in Europe that specialises in animal nutrition.
